Celebrating 10 Special Years of the Northern Ireland International Organ Competition

In 2022 we celebrated 10 extraordinary years of nurturing and profiling young organists from across the world.

To mark this moment all 10 of our first-prize winners from 2011 to 2020 were brought together for gala concerts in Southwark Cathedral, London (28 March) and St. Anne’s Cathedral, Belfast (6 April). These were presented to capacity audiences by BBC Radio 3’s Sean Rafferty and Fr. Eugene O’Hagan, of the classical group The Priests.

On 5 April we were also delighted to stage Northern Ireland Resounds: simultaneous lunchtime concerts in all 6 counties of Northern Ireland with all 10 winners.

The British composer Grace-Evangeline Mason was commissioned to write a new organ work to mark 10 years of NIIOC. Where The Birds Sing was premiered in Southwark Cathedral on 28 March by Richard Gowers.
